The richest man in the world was from Mali

Kanga Moussa is the tenth king of the empire of Mali from 1312 to 1337. During his ascent to the throne, the empire of Mali consists of territories belonging to the Ghana Empire and Melle (Mali) and the surrounding areas. The king extends the Mali Empire at its peak, from the Fouta Djallon to Agadez and the ancient empires of Ghana and Songhai, from East to West, the current border of Niger to Senegal shore. He established diplomatic relations with Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. It is considered the richest man of all time, his fortune then estimated at 400 billion dollars of our present. Kanga Moussa is best known by the Arab chroniclers through his pilgrimage to Mecca made in 1324 (725 year AH) which, together with a fabulous caravan of thousands of topics with hundreds of horses and camels, and he took distributed along its journey a so large quantity of gold (several tons) that the price of gold dropped permanently in Africa and the Middle East. It was under his reign that Mali has become the hub of scholars and African and Arab poets through the construction of a string of mosques, the first Black African universities and several libraries that establish the scientific reputation and cultural Tombouctou for centuries.
