Burundi, paid to integrate

February 21, Sindiso Ngwenya, Secretary General of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) has officially handed over a check for € 8.3 million to the Burundian Minister of Trade, Victoire Ndikumana. This amount was paid in Burundi to offset tariff revenue losses after joining the free trade area and customs union within this vast market of 19 countries.
